- 3 pounds of boneless chicken legs or breasts, cut into 2" cubes
- 2 cups of flour
- 2 cups of cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 2 cups of water
- 1 egg
- 4 cups of oil

For Sauce
- 4 cups of water
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of hot sauce
- 1/3 cup of cooking wine
- 1 cup of soy sauce
- 1 cup of vinegar
- 1/3 cup of ketchup
- 4 cups of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce
- 2/3 cups of water
- 1 cup of cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds
Step 1 (Chicken)
Mix chicken with flour, cornstarch, baking powder, water, and egg.
Marinate for 20 minutes.
Step 2
Add chicken pieces a few at a time in to the hot oil.
Deep fry until golden brown.
Drain and repeat with the remaining chicken. Set aside.
Step 3 (sauce)
Put 4 cups of water in the pan.
Add salt, hot sauce, cooking wine, soy sauce, vinegar, ketchup, sugar, and bring to a boil.
Step 4
Add tomato sauce, stirring continuosly.
Step 5
Mix 2/3 cup of water and cornstarch, then add slowly to the sauce, stirring continously until it boils.
Step 6
To serve, pour over chicken. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
